Born of the Amazon, Brewed in Canada
What is Guayusa?
Guayusa (pronounced, "Gwhy-YOU-sah") is one of three caffeinated trees in the Holly family that grows primarily in the Ecuadorian region of the Amazon rainforest. Its leaves have been brewed like tea and ceremoniously consumed for their highly energizing and health promoting properties by the Kitchwa tribe for at least 1500 years.
What started as an interest in an energizing cup of tea, has now turned into a love affair with what we think is one of the most revitalizing and sustainable sources of energy we have ever found.
Why do we love Guayusa?
Besides the smooth and pleasantly fresh aroma and taste of Guayusa, the real magic comes from the synergy between three of its naturally occurring constituents. Namely, caffeine, l-theanine and theobromine. The caffeine provides energy, the l-theanine acts to soothe the jitters normally associated with caffeine and the theobromine acts to uplift. combine that with more antioxidants than green tea and a plethora of amino acids and you've got yourself a healthy productivity powerhouse!
What makes our Waisa Mama brew special?
We have gone to great lengths to source only the highest quality organic ingredients available. Unlike most other energy beverages, we keep the sugar content very low by partially sweetening our brew with monk fruit, a zero-calorie, zero-sugar sweetener that gets its flavour from antioxidants. The sugar we do use is 100% organic eco-social cane sugar.
At 45 calories or less per bottle, Waisa Mama's Organic Guayusa Energy Tea is truly something special.
From our omnidegradable product bags, to our labels made from stone (Yup, stone!) we take every action possible to reduce plastic waste. We compost all of our used Guayusa and use glass bottles, as we believe them to be the healthiest non-plastic container.
